Norman Wicks, age 63, enjoys the company of his service dog Sophia Saturday, Oct. 20, in La Jolla, Calif., in the donated R.V. they live in with Wicks' son, who is also his caretaker. Wicks is bound to a wheelchair because of a past spinal cord injury. He also suffers from syrngomyelia, posttraumatic stress, disassociate amnesia, and agoraphobia. On top of all his health related troubles, Wicks has received over 20 parking tickets since March which he says were written to him illegally because he has a handicapped parking pass which enables him to park for however long he wants. He displays all the tickets in his window as a statement to the public. Wicks claims that police harass him by driving by at night with their sirens on and egging and banging on his R.V.
